Friendly Advice
Today's friendly advice is about:

Business letterhead

It's the first thing your clients see when they open your letter – your business letterhead. Before a single word is read, a client or vendor will form an opinion of your company based upon your business letterhead. Make sure your choice of font, color, size and content reflects the image you want to convey. A delicate script font might be the perfect choice for an interior design firm, but a poor choice for a construction company. Give the recipient enough information to understand who you are, where you are, and how to contact you, but avoid cluttering the layout with slogans, product descriptions, or multiple addresses. Clean, simple copy in an appropriate font is always your best choice.

Invitations

Whether it's a grand opening or a retirement party, business event invitations need to reflect your company image as well as the event itself. Make sure the invitation clearly states the nature of the event, who may attend, the formality of the event, and whether an RSVP is needed. Although you can select papers or cards with a seasonal or special event theme, remember these are business invitations. Avoid suggestive, politically incorrect or overly embellished looks. Invitations printed on quality paper convey a sense of success and luxury, so select the best materials available. For earth-conscious companies, using recycled paper is a great way to maintain your commitment to a greener business model.

Graphic brochures

They say a picture is worth a thousand words, and nowhere is this more evident than in a business brochure. Graphic brochures show as well as tell, giving the reader more information in less time. Choose images that give the reader more information, rather than just decorate the text. Be sure the size of all images doesn't overwhelm the written material – think of the graphic as a complement to the written content. Once caveat: when you're designing graphic brochures, make sure the paper you select is heavy enough to avoid bleed-though. There is nothing less attractive than seeing part of the image through the words on the reverse side.
