Last year was a year of variety and innovation in pop music. Here are the top 20 songs of 2007:

1.Irreplaceable” by Beyonce 

Of course, first on the list is Irreplaceable. This is the third single from her second solo album “B’Day.” So far this is her most upbeat song off the record.

2. “Umbrella” by Rihanna

Secondly, we have Umbrella. This was a sleeper hit that became one of the world’s favorite songs, “Umbrella” is recognized as the most successful song of 2007 on the United World Chart. 

3. “The Sweet Escape” by Gwen Stefani Featuring Akon

Thirdly, we have Gwen Stefani and Akon worked together to produce this song. It sounds like it would flow from a jukebox out of the 50’s.

4. “Big Girls Don’t Cry” by Fergie

Fourthly, the song by Fergie. The song went platinum four times selling more than eight million copies, and was the third best-selling single of 2007. The song stayed on the chart for 38 weeks and in the Top 10 for 26 of them. 

5. “Buy U A Drank (Shawty Snappin’)” by T-Pain Featuring Yung Joc

The song is the first single from T-Pain’s album “Epiphany.” On May 12, 2007 the single became T-Pain’s first, and Yung Joc’s second, number one single on Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart.

6. “Before He Cheats” by Carrie Underwood

With lyrics of revenge Carrie went to number one.

7. “Hey There Delilah” by Plain White T’s

Plain White T’s “Hey There Delilah” is a manipulative song. Some listeners think that this is a rip-off of Simon and Garfunkel’s “Mrs. Robinson.”

8. “I Wanna Love You” by Akon Featuring Snoop Dogg

The original title was “I Want to F**k You.” The song was originally made by Plies, a rapper from Ft. Meyers, Florida but his verse was replaced by Snoop’s for commercial reasons. He didn’t even get writer’s credit.

9. “Say It Right” by Nelly Furtado

This was written in a studio session after 4:00 a.m. The song happened with the help of the producers. It received a Grammy nomination.

10. “Glamorous” by Fergie Featuring Ludacris

In March 2007 the song became Fergie’s second number-one single in the U.S. This single was released on March 18, 2007 in the UK and was the second single taken from the album, “Dutchess.”

11. “Don’t Matter” by Akon

“Don’t Matter” debuted in the U.S. in mid-January 2007. The song made its debut at number seventy-nine on the Hot 100 and reached number one 10 weeks later.

12. “Girlfriend” by Avril Lavigne

“Girlfriend” is the first track from the album “The Best Damn Thing.” But charges of plagiarism have followed. First, it sounds similar to Tony Basil’s “Mickey;” and the band The Rubinoo’s single, “I Wanna be Your Boyfriend,” has similar lyrics.

13. “Makes Me Wonder” by Maroon 5

This was the Grammy Award-winning first single released from Maroon 5’s second album. Moreover, the lyrics of “Makes Me Wonder” have two different meanings. One is about the state of U.S. politics and the other is about love.

14. “Party Like A Rockstar” by Shop Boyz

Part of the top 20 songs of 2007 list is”Party Like a Rockstar”. It is a rap song recorded by Shop Boyz. It was released as the first single from their debut album “Rockstar Mentality” (2007).

15. “Smack That” by Akon Featuring Eminem

“Smack That” is the first single from Akon’s second album “Konvicted.” Also, it was also nominated for the “Most Earth Shattering Collaboration” at the 2007 MTV Video Music Awards.

16. “This Is Why I’m Hot” by Mims

This is a single by rapper Mims. It reached number one on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, number two on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and number one on the Billboard Hot Rap Tracks.

17. “It’s Not Over” by Daughtry

On the 17th spot is “It’s Not Over”. It is the first official single from Daughtry’s first album, “Daughtry”. The song is a prelude to the second season fall finale of “Prison Break.”

18. “The Way I Are” by Timbaland Featuring Keri Hilson

“The Way I Are” is the second single from Timbaland’s second album, “Shock Value.” In addition to this, the TV show, “Dancing with the Stars.” always features this song.

19. “Fergalicious” by Fergie

“Fergalicious” is the second single from pop singer Fergie’s debut solo album, “The Dutchess.” It features Black Eyed Peas members will.i.am, who also produced the track.

20. “Crank That (Soulja Boy)” by Soulja Boy Tell’em

Finally, the single “Crank That (Soulja Boy)” reached number one in September 2007 on the Billboard Hot 100. The single was self-published on the Internet. It became a number-one hit in the United States for seven non-consecutive weeks starting in September 2007.
